Nagal wins in opening qualifier of Indian Wells

Indian Wells (US): Ace Indian tennis player Sumit Nagal brushed past the challenge of American wildcard Stefan Dostanic in straight sets in his first outing at the Indian Wells Masters here. The India No. 1 beat Dostanic 6-2 6-2 in the first round of the qualifying on Monday.

Lakshya knocked out of Olympics boxing qualifier

Reigning national champion Lakshya Chahar became the fourth Indian boxer to crash out in the opening round of the first World Olympic Boxing Qualifier here. Competing in the men’s 80kg event, Chahar was knocked out in the third round by 2021 Asian Championships silver medallist Gheshlaghi Meysam of Iran.

Grand Slam champ Simona Halep wins doping case

Two-time Grand Slam champion Simona Halep had her four-year doping ban cut to nine months by the top court for global sport, making the former world No.1 eligible to return to competition immediately. Halep was initially banned for four years for two separate anti-doping rule violations.
