National Equestrian C’ship: ARC Riders win gold in team events
Inaara Mehta Luthria, Freya Thakkar and Hayden Hussain of the Amateur Riders' Club (ARC) clinched gold in various team event categories at the National Equestrian Championships (NEC) in Delhi.
Inaara’s flawless performance
Inaara Mehta Luthria, competing in the Dressage Team, sub-junior category, delivered a standout performance, riding Secks Richtige. Her flawless rounds earned her an impressive score of 78.63 per cent, leading her team to victory. The team's combined score of 226.18 per cent was well ahead of the second-place (210.24 per cent) and third-place teams (206.26 per cent).
Inaara's teammates included Ananya on Knock Out (73.35%), Subh on Furstentanz (74.20%) and Pranav on Fame of Viberty KG (68.78%). Their exceptional performance in the Dressage event showcased their teamwork and high level of preparation.
Hayden, Freya shine
In the Show Jumping Team (1m) event, Hayden Hussain faced a challenging first round with four penalties while riding Cuba. Despite the setback, he cleared the second round with no penalties, helping his team secure the gold. Freya Thakkar, although eliminated in the first round, bounced back in the second round, clearing it with perfect precision.
Key to success
All three riders are trained at the world-class facilities at ARC, based at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse. The club has been home to numerous top equestrians, including Asian Games gold medallist Hriday Chheda and Yashaan Khambatta, both of whom currently coach the club's rising stars.
