Nischal, Anuradha, Yogesh log wins

Haryana’s Nischal claimed the top honours in the women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions (3P) T2 event, while Indian Navy shooters Anuradha and Yogesh Singh won the women’s 10m air pistol and men’s 25m centre fire pistol T2 events on the last day of the National Shooting trials
Nischal shot 459.6 in the eight-woman final to outclass N Gaayathri of Tamil Nadu, who finished second with 453.2. Lajja Gauswami of Gujarat finished third with 443.0 and Anjum Moudgil of Punjab finished fourth with 432.5. Anuradha (243.0) won the women’s 10m air pistol final overcoming Manu Bhaker, who shot 241.1. Yashaswini Singh Deswal finished third with a score of 220.4. Yogesh led Indian Navy to a 1-2 finish in the men’s 25m centre fire pistol final, shooting 585 to beat Rajat Kumar Yadav’s 584. Gourav Gupta of Haryana was third with a score of 580.
Manu, however, captured the junior women’s 10m air pistol T2 event with a score of 243.5 in the final. Rhythm Sangwan from Haryana finished second with 240.1. — PTI
Korakaki to LEAD Olympics torch relay
Lausanne: Greek Olympics and world champion Anna Korakaki will run the first part of the relay following the torch-lighting ceremony for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and will also be the first woman to hold that honor. — IANS
