Nithya wins gold, Bhagat silver in para badminton



New Delhi: India’s Nithya Sre Sumathy Sivan won the gold medal in the women’s singles SH6 class, while world No. 1 Pramod Bhagat finished runner-up in the men’s singles SL3 category in the 4 Nations Para Badminton International in Dublin today. The mixed doubles pairing of Chirag Baretha and Mandeep Kaur settled for silver in the SL3-SU5 classification.

Indian golfer Vani Kapoor carded a 1-under 71 to sit one shot off the lead at tied-2nd after the third round of the Big Green Egg Open. As three-time Major champion Anna Nordqvist moved to 7-under, Kapoor was 6-under alongside Austria’s Sarah Schober (73). Diksha Dagar shot a 73, which included a rough patch of three bogeys in four holes, to slip to T-5. She was only three shots off the lead. Amandeep Drall (74) was T-30 and Ridhima Dilawari (77) slipped to 63rd. Meanwhile, Aditi Ashok and Thailand’s Pajaree Annanarukarn finished T-24 after a 7-under final round of the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational in Midland (USA).
