There were several records broken by decorated foreign athletes, none better than Malaysia's Abdul Latif Romly, who completed a hat-trick of long jump T20 world titles with a best attempt of 7.67m. Also, Ukraine's Volodymyr Ponomarenko threw the shot put in T12 category to 17.39m, which was an improvement of the world record. Bulgaria's Ruzhdi claimed his sixth successive world title in the men's shot put F55 category with a new world record of 12.94m. Nassima Saifi retained her title in the women's discus throw F57 category and Swiss wheelchair legend and 5000m T54 world record holder Catherine Debrunner added another world title to her name as she clocked the winning time of 12:18.29.
