Al Ain (UAE): Avani Lekhara shot brilliantly to clinch the silver medal as India had another good day in office at the ongoing Al Ain World Shooting Para Sport World Cup here today. Lekhara put up a strong challenge in the R2 women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 final but fell short in the end to go down to Ukraine’s Iryna Shchetnik by just 0.3 of a point. The final score read 249-248.7. After five days of competition, Ukraine lead the medals tally with four gold, four silver and one bronze. Hosts United Arab Emirates are second with three gold and a silver, while India are third with one gold, one silver and a bronze.

Serena pulls out of Miami Open following oral surgery

Serena Williams said on Sunday she will not compete at this week’s Miami Open as the 23-time Grand Slam champion is recovering from oral surgery. The 39-year-old Florida resident has won the Miami Open a record eight times and joins several other big names in missing the event including Novak Djokovic, Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer.
