Clarke, Field take NZ into U-19 World Cup semis
Kristian Clarke came up with an all-round performance to help New Zealand beat West Indies by two wickets in a low-scoring affair and enter the semifinals of the ICC U-19 World Cup here today. Clarke first took 4/25 to restrict West Indies to 238 and then made an unbeaten 46 off 42 balls to take New Zealand home in the company of Joey Field (38 not out). West Indies were bowled out in 47.5 overs, with Kirk McKenzie top-scoring with a 104-ball 99. Right-arm pacer Clarke got support from left-arm spinner Jesse Tashkoff (2/35) and Field (2/52). Chasing the modest total, New Zealand were reduced to 153/8 in 34.5 overs. But Clarke and Field made 86 runs for the ninth wicket to take New Zealand home, finishing at 239/8 in 49.4 overs.

Raza takes seven wickets as Zimbabwe increase lead
Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza picked up a career-best seven wickets as the hosts built a 175-run lead over Sri Lanka on the third day of the second Test here today. Off-spinner Raza claimed three wickets apiece in the morning and afternoon sessions to finish with figures of 7/113 as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 293. Raza’s haul was the second best for Zimbabwe in Test cricket. Rain again brought an early end to the day as Zimbabwe reached 62/1 in their second innings.

Mamedyarov withdraws, Praggnanandhaa gets a point
Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa grabbed the joint second position with six points after his opponent and top seed Shakhriyar Mamedyarov withdrew from the eighth round due to illness in the Masters category of the 18th Gibraltar Chess festival here. The 14-year-old Praggnanandhaa got a point following the withdrawal and now shares the second spot with four others. Four players lead at 6.5 points.

FC Goa beat a resilient Odisha FC 4-2 to reclaim the top spot in the Indian Super League here today. A Vinit Rai own goal (21st minute) followed by a Jackichand Singh brace (24th, 27th) set Goa on their way foir a big win. But Manuel Onwu (59th, 65th) nearly brought Odisha back into the game. A late goal from Ferran Corominas (90+1st) settled the result.
