Changwon, July 12

The mixed team pair of Mehuli Ghosh and Shahu Tushar Mane sealed India’s second medal at the ISSF Shooting World Cup here today by setting up the gold medal match against Hungary.

On Day 4 of the competition, the in-form Mehuli and Shahu topped the 10m air rifle mixed team qualifiers with a score of 634.4 after 60 shots to finish ahead of Hungarians Istvan Peni and Eszter Meszaros, who finished second with a 630.3.

Another Indian pair, Arjun Babuta and Elavenil Valarivan, scored 627.8 to finish eighth.

India and Hungary will battle it out tomorrow to decide the winner.

In the 10m air pistol mixed team event, Shiva Narwal and teenager Palak qualified for the bronze medal match. The pair shot 574 to finish third behind the Greek pairing of Anna Korakaki and Dionysios Korakakis, who shot 579. The top spot was claimed by Serbia’s Zorana Arunovic and Damir Mikec, who shot 584.

Naveen and Rhythm Sangwan finished eighth with a 570 in the event. India will take on

Kazakhstan in the bronze playoff.

Earlier in the day, India missed out on five medals as none of the top qualifiers in the men’s and women’s 10m air pistol event, as well as in men’s trap, failed to make it count.

India has won one gold so far in the tournament and is currently placed fourth on the medals table.
