The seasoned M Meena Kumari (54kg) was among the four Indians who claimed silver medals at the 9th Nation’s Cup women’s boxing tournament in Sombor, Serbia. Monika (48kg), Ritu Grewal (51kg) and Bhagyabati Kachari (75kg) were the other silver medal winners. Pavitra (60kg) and Pwilao Basumatary (64kg) lost in the semifinals to settle for bronze medals.

Nikhat enters second round at Strandja Memorial

Defending champion Nikhat Zareen was off to a resounding start at the Strandja Memorial boxing tournament, outpunching Morocco’s Yasmine Mouttaki in the opening round of the women’s 51kg category in Sofia, Bulgaria, today. Zareen prevailed 5-0.
