Barcelona: Barcelona kept up their pursuit of leaders Real Madrid in the La Liga title race by beating city rivals Espanyol 1-0 at home yesterday, also condemning their neighbours to relegation from the top flight. Retirement close, want to enjoy my time on court: Federer

Hamburg: Former world No. 1 Roger Federer says that he is getting closer to retirement, but he still wants to play as long as possible. Federer will turn 39 next month and is still one of the top players on the ATP Tour. Over the last few years he has proved that he is still capable of making deep runs in the biggest tournaments. However, the former world No. 1 knows that the road ahead is getting shorter by the day. “Retirement is getting closer and I will miss tennis so much. It would be easier for me to retire now, but I wanna give myself a chance to keep enjoying my time on court,” Federer said in an interview to a German newspaper.

Shortly after that match, Federer announced he underwent a knee surgery. A few days ago, coach Severin Luthi said Federer’s recovery was going as planned. Agencies
