Mumbai: Sweden clinched the title of the women’s U-17 international football tournament after blanking India 4-0 in the summit clash. The Swedes took the lead as early as the fourth minute through Rusul Kafaji, who struck a shot from outside the penalty box. The visitors then extended their lead in the 16th minute through skipper Elma Nelhage’s header to make it 2-0. Two minutes later, Sweden added a third through Evelina Duljan.

Deepak Chahar out of 3rd ODI, Saini replacement
India pacer Deepak Chahar was ruled out of the series-deciding third ODI against the West Indies owing to a back injury and replaced by Navdeep Saini. The series is currently locked 1-1 with the final ODI to be played here on Sunday. Chahar felt mild pain in his lower back following the second ODI played in Vizag.

A brilliant strike from second-half substitute Raynier Fernandes helped Mumbai City FC beat Jamshedpur FC 2-1 in their Indian Super League clash. Paulo Machado’s (15th) free-kick goal was cancelled out by Tiri’s (37th) header from a corner-kick. Raynier (56th) then came off the bench to produce the match-winning goal.

Pakistan 191 all out vs Sri Lanka on Day 1
Fast bowler Lahiru Kumara and spinner Lasith Embuldeniya picked up four wickets each to help Sri Lanka bundle out hosts Pakistan for 191 in the first innings on the opening day of the second and final Test. Asad Shafiq and Babar Azam struck fifties with opener Abid Ali, who made 38, the only other batsman for the hosts to reach double digits after captain Azhar Ali chose to bat first.

Barty and Nadal claim season-ending ITF awards
Ash Barty and Rafa Nadal were named International Tennis Federation’s (ITF) World Champions for 2019, rewarding them for stellar seasons in which they finished at the top of women’s and men’s rankings, respectively. The 23-year-old Barty lifted the season-ending WTA Finals trophy and led Australia to their first Fed Cup final since 1993. Nadal claimed the season-ending ITF world title for the fourth time after sealing an historic 12th French Open and a fourth US Open, as well as helping Spain to their sixth Davis Cup title. The Spaniard was also voted by fellow players as the winner of ATP’s Stefan Edberg sportsmanship award for a second straight year and third time overall.
