Tasnim marches ahead in final-eight

Top seed Tasnim Mir of Gujarat confirmed her place in the girls’ U-19 quarterfinals in the ongoing Yonex-Sunrise All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament, at the Sector 38 Sports Complex, today.

Tasnim defeated 12th seed Maharashtra’s Riya Kunjir 21-5 21-16. Rajasthan’s Sakshi Phogat also marched ahead in the quarterfinals by defeating sixth seed Uthsava Palit. Sakshi won the first game 21-14 and was leading the second 10-4, when Uthsava conceded the match due to an injury. Fourth seed Delhi’s Deepshikha Singh defeated Mili Verma 21-11 21-11, while 16th seed Pranavi N of Tamil Nadu stunned by registering a hard earned victory over fifth seed Tanya Hemanth. Pranavi recorded a 21-13 13-21 22-20 victory against her ace rival. Ninth seed Akshaya Arumugam of Tamil Nadu defeated Awantika Pandey 21-13 23-21 and third seed Mansi Singh ousted Janani Ananthakumar 21-15 21-8. Likhita Srivastava defeated Shreya Lele 21-11 21-11 and second seed Aditi Bhatt outplayed Anya Chauhan 21-12 21-13.

Rohan makes easy way

Delhi’s top seed Rohan Gurbani also made his way into the boys’ -19 quarterfinals by defeating Vikas Yadav 21-15 22-20. Second seed Ravi managed to overpower a tough opponent Jaiditya Pratap Singh 19-21 21-14 22-20. Haryana’s Abhinn Vasisth defeated Pruthvi Roy K 21-14 21-19, while Gautam Walia recorded a comeback 9-21 22-20 21-12 win over Chayanit Joshi, whereas Pranay Katta also logged an upsed by defeating sixth seed Harsh Arora21-13 21-11. Seventh seed Rithvik Sanjeevi S of Tamil Nadu defeated ninth seed Jayant Rana 21-14 21-8. Third seed Pranav Rao Gandham defeated Haryana’s Raman Kumar 21-11 21-13, while Saneeth DS defeated Tukum Laa 20-22 21-17 21-10.

Edwin-Shruti main winning spree

In the mixed U-19 doubles, top seed Edwin Joy and Shruti Mishra defeated Shubham Patel and Sakshi Phogat in a tough match 21-23 23-21 24-22.

A Doddavarapu and R Sachan also a strong competition from Advit Bhargava and Navdha Manglam. But the duo managed register a 21-17 17-21 21-8 victory . The third seed pair of S Udayakumar and T Jolly from Kerala defaeted Suhas V and Janani Ananthakumar 21-9 21-15. In the boys’ U-19 doubles pre-quarterfinals, the duo of A Doddavarapu and E Joy defeated Adheep Gupta and Nikunj Pandey 16-21 21-8 21-14. Saket CS and Suhas V defeated Suraj Goala and Angshuman Gogoi 21-17 11-21 21-14.
