Teenager Goswami races to title victory

Teenager Dhruvh Goswami lit up the third round of the 28th National Racing Championship with flawless driving to win the LGB Formula 4 title here today.

Starting the two-day final round eight points behind championship leader Diljith TS, the 18-year-old finished on the podium in all four races over the weekend. The Bengaluru youngster, driving for MSport, won three races and secured one second-place finish to beat Dark Don Racing’s Diljith to the championship by 12 points.

In the season’s final race, he started seventh on the grid, three spots behind former champion Diljith, who was trailing by just four points. Goswami showcased his skills to race to the front and demonstrated his resolve to preserve the lead until the chequered flag.

“It was going to be a long race; I knew I needed to be patient,” Goswami said.

In Round 4 of the FIA-certified Formula 4 Indian Championship, South African Luviwe Sambudla won the first race of the final day for his maiden win of the season, while Kenya’s Shane Chandaria clinched the second race.

Bengaluru rider Anish Shetty finished the season with a victory for his second title in the motorcycle category. Bryan Nicholas of Puducherry bagged the title in the amateur class.

Balaji Raju secured the rookie crown in the Levitas Cup, while Jai Prashanth Venkat won the gentlemen’s category. In the Novice Cup, Lokithlingeash Ravi took the honours.
