In the nail-biting boys’ U-19 final, which was played for over an hour, Haryana’s Ravi outclassed top seed Rohan Gurbani of Air India on the concluding day of the Sunrise Yonex All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament, at the Sector 38 Sports Complex, today.

Ravi made his intentions clear from the first game as he recorded a 21-17 win. In the second game, the top seed gave a tough fight to put the scores at par. Gurbani won the game 19-21 to push the match to the third game. However, Ravi dominated the third game to record a stunning 21-8 win to bag the title. In another major upset, third seed Mansi Singh of Uttar Pradesh defeated top seed Gujarat’s Tasnim Mir in battle lasted for 30 minutes to win the girls’ singles U-19 title. Mansi recorded a 21-17 21-19 win to take away the glittering trophy. Tasnim tried hard to register a comeback in the second game, but Mansi proved to be too good for the top seed.

The six seed pair of RPS and Sai Pullela won the boys’ U-19 doubles final by registering a comeback win over and S Udayakumar and GB. The title winning pair lost the first game after a close encounter 18-21, but retuned back 21-18 21-16 to win the title. The second seed pair of Aditi Bhatt and Tanya Hemanth overpowered sixth seed Shruti Mishra and Shailja Shukla in the girls’ U-19 doubles final. The duo recorded an easy 21-11 21-9 win over their rivals. The top seed Edwin Joy and Shruti Mishra won the mixed U-19 doubles final by defeating AV Suresh and S Gurazada 21-18 21-14.
