Khadse said IOA officials should work together with the government towards making a big effort in trying to win the bid to host the 2036 Olympics in India.

“The IOA and the government are trying to work together and these issues should not crop up as we need to work harder for the bid,” the minister said.

IOA president PT Usha and the executive members have been at loggerheads for over a year now over the appointment of Raghuram Iyer’s as the CEO. The reservations which started with the salary package became a full-fledged war to the extent that the EC members threatened to bring a no confidence motion against Usha.

The MOS further informed that though the interest has been lodged to host the Summer Games, IOC will decide the bid winner in due course.

“This is just an initial stage. We have lodged an interest through the IOA but these things take time as you are aware that the final decision on that will be taken by the IOC,” she explained.

“Let me assure you that we are working hard on it and will do everything in our powers to win the bid as it will be a proud moment for our nation to host the Olympics here,” she added.

“If we get the hosting rights, then definitely it will a proud moment for India. India is no longer lagging in any sector, and especially in sports sector we want to do more work in the coming days,” Khadse said.
