Week before Asia Cup, BCCI invites bids for team’s title sponsorship

A week before the start of the Asia Cup, the BCCI has invited Expression of Interest (EoI) for the Indian cricket team's title sponsorship rights.

In a release on Tuesday, the BCCI has detailed terms and conditions for the submission and evaluation of the bids. The last date for submission of bid documents is September 16.

Dream XI had signed a three-year deal worth Rs 358 crore in July 2023 but had to withdraw after the Parliament passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025.

"Any bidder wishing to submit a bid is required to purchase the IEOI. However, only those satisfying the eligibility requirements set out in the IEOI and subject to the other terms and conditions set out therein, shall be eligible to bid. It is clarified that merely purchasing the IEOI does not entitle any person to bid," the BCCI said in its release.

As per the release, bidders must have an average turnover of Rs 300 crore as per the last three audited accounts or the average net worth must be Rs 300 crore for the last three years.

The BCCI has barred parties involved in online gaming, betting and gambling, alcohol and tobacco companies from submitting the bid.

"Under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, the bidder, including any of its group companies, who is engaged in online money gaming, betting or gambling services or similar services in India or anywhere in the world; provides any online money gaming, betting or gambling services or similar services to any person in India; and has any investment or ownership interest in any person engaged in betting or gambling services in India is not permitted to submit a bid," the release further stated.

"The prohibited brand categories are: Alcohol products; betting or gambling services; crypto currency; online money gaming or any such activities prohibited under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025; tobacco; and one which is likely to offend public morals such as, including but not limited to, pornography," it added.
