World, meet Gabba: Washington Sundar commemorates memorable test win; names dog after stadium

Chandigarh, April 4
Washington Sundar’s been on a high lately. The young all-rounder made a memorable test debut in Brisbane’s Gabba, where his four-wicket streak, his 62 crucial runs in partnership with Shardul Thakur in the first innings, and later his vital 22 of 29 balls in the second in 53-run stand with Rishabh Pant helped India win the test and break what has been commonly referred to as the Gabba jinx—India’s 32-year-old dry spell in that stadium.
Sundar’s now decided to commemorate India’s memorable test by naming his dog ‘Gabba’ after the stadium. He introduced his dog to the world on Twitter with a photo and a tweet that read: “Love is a four-legged word. World, meet Gabba”.
Here are some reactions to his post.

Where was your sporting high? What would your puppy be called?
Every time Washington Sundar calls his dog he’ll get good feelings 😁🐶 https://t.co/RNxPMxlDgp— England’s Barmy Army (@TheBarmyArmy) April 3, 2021

Australian here – I think it’s extremely cute that you named it Gabba. You’ve got every right to do that. It’s where you were a part of one of India’s greatest ever victories. My respect for you honestly has grown by a lot. Keep being you 👏

This is nonsense
Respect your opponents and venuesYou should focus on your Future
Imagine if English or aussie named their pet Chepok or Wankhede
Gabba win is inspirational
But
This is Cheap

This is a very embarrassing thing you’ve done. How would you feel if an English or Australian player names their dog Wankhede or some other stadium?
