Oslo (Norway), October 5
India wrestler Pinki’s bid to win her maiden World Championships medal fell flat as she lost the bronze playoff 5-2 to America’s Jenna Rose Burkert while the other youngsters in the women’s squad also struggled here today.

Earlier, 18-year-old Hanny Kumari (50kg) began with a 9-2 win over South Korea’s Miran Cheon but lost in the quarterfinals to Russia’s Nadezhda Sokolova. In the 53kg, Pooja lost to Japanese prodigy Akari Fujinami.
Teenager Bhateri lost 8-0 to Russia’s Dinara Kudaeva Salikhova. Kiran (76kg) was the only senior player in the morning session but struggled at the big stage. — PTI
