Hisar, September 1

Three rebel MLAs of the JJP joined the BJP in the presence of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Haryana election co-incharge Biplab Deb at a rally organised in Jind today.

The MLAs who joined the BJP include Ram Kumar Gautam from Narnaund, Jogi Ram Sihag from Barwala and former minister and JJP MLA from Uklana (reserved) Anoop Dhanak. While all of them had resigned from the JJP, two of them — Sihag and Dhanak — had also tendered their resignations from the state Assembly.

However, JJP’s Narwana (reserved) MLA Ram Niwas Surjekhera, who was booked in a rape case by the Jind police recently, did not turn up in the rally even though his entry in the BJP was also expected today. Sources indicated that the criminal charges of rape against him was the reason behind his not joining the BJP today.

Addressing the rally, Chief Minister Saini accused the Congress of indulging in politics of lies. He alleged that the Congress formed the government in Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana recently by making false promises. “Now the fragile financial condition of all three states is here for all to see. The Congress rule has ruined the economy of these states,” he alleged. Targeting the Congress leader and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Saini alleged that Hooda wanted to grab power by making false promises. ”Hooda has no interest in serving the public. He wants to come to power not to serve the public but to resort to looting of the resources of the state,” he alleged.

The Chief Minister said though Hooda had not replied to the questions raised by him (CM) regarding his previous tenure, the people of the state would definitely give a befitting reply to Hooda in this Assembly poll.

BJP state president Mohan Lal Badoli said the Congress has always spread lies, whether it is false propaganda of ending reservation or rumours of changing the Constitution. “But it will not work in the Assembly elections,” he said urging the workers to work hard to ensure a third term to the BJP in Haryana.

Eye Assembly ticket

The rebel JJP MLAs who joined the BJP are eying the ticket from different Assembly segments. While Ram Kumar Gautam is aspiring for the ticket from Safidon Assembly segment in Jind district, Anoop Dhanak is expecting the BJP ticket from his home constituency in Uklana (reserved).
