Tiranga rallies held across J&K, Ladakh

A festive spirit reigns in Jammu and Kashmir as well as Ladakh ahead of Independence Day with several Tiranga rallies being organised and Tricolour fluttering proudly from key buildings.
A rally with 750 meter long Tricolour was held at the world’s highest railway bridge in Reasi district of Jammu division. The bridge on Chenab river witnessed the locals and students carrying the Tricolour. The rally was organised by the district administration with heightened security arrangements.
A rally was carried out by the Central Reserve Police Force on the road along the famous Dal Lake in Srinagar on Wednesday morning. The rally, organised by the Srinagar Sector CRPF, commenced from the SKICC and concluded at Ghat No 13 on Boulevard Road, officials said.
The 3km Tiranga walkathon witnessed an enthusiastic participation from the force’s members, including the Mahila personnel of all battalions of Srinagar Sector CRPF, they said. The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) also organised a Tiranga bike rally in Batamaloo area of the city.
The rallies were also held in Ganderbal, Baramulla, Kupwara, and Shopian districts.
Famous historical places and monuments, including Martand Sun Temple in Mattan area of Anantnag district in south Kashmir, were illuminated with tricolour, officials said.
Meanwhile, multiple rallies were also held in Ladakh where locals carried the Tricolour. District Industries Centre, Leh, organised a Tiranga rally at the Industrial Estate. All the industrial units were urged to hoist national flag at their units, an official informed.
Government Degree College, Khaltse, also celebrated the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign on the college campus. The campaign commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by college principal Prof Stanzin Yangdolon the campus.
Later, to raise awareness about the significance of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ programme among the public, a rally was organised, starting from the college campus and proceeding through Khaltse village. The event saw enthusiastic participation from both students and college staff.
Meanwhile, a Tiranga rally was organised at Diskit, headquarter of Nubra region. The rally was headed by Sub Divisional Magistrate of Nubra, Tufail Iqbal, who urged the general public to hoist national flag and display unity and patriotism towards the country.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in the Kashmir Valley to ensure incident-free Independence Day celebrations, with a multi-tier security net in place at the venue of the main function, which will be presided over by J-K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
2.5-km-long Tricolour at Rafiabad rally
Thousands of people from all walks of life united in Watergam, Rafiabad, in north Kashmir for a Tiranga Rally, carrying a 2.5-kilometre-long Tricolour, the longest ever witnessed in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Wednesday. An official spokesperson said it creating a powerful symbol of pride and patriotism for the entire community. Baramulla DC Minga Sherpa said the rally saw the participation of government officials, students, and local residents, creating an unforgettable spectacle of unity. — OC
