Thailand’s defence minister Phumtham Wechayachai has confirmed that 90 people are missing and three have dead following the collapse of a high-rise building under construction when a powerful earthquake hit the capital.
Wechayachai did not provide further details on the ongoing rescue efforts, but first responders reported that seven people had been rescued from outside the collapsed structure.
The building came down suddenly when the 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck on Friday, causing a crane to topple from the roof and sending a giant plume of dust into the air. AP
