Chandigarh, June 30

A peculiar incident has been reported from Delhi where residents of an apartment block celebrated birthday of an alleged thief who reportedly tried to break into a locked flat of a society with two of his accomplices.

Residents of the society, upon noticing three people trying to trespass the locked flat, rushed to catch the miscreants. While two of them managed to flee from the spot, the youngest of them was nabbed by locals.

Upon being caught red handed, he started crying and requested people to pardon his act as it was his birthday. The residents decided to organise a birthday party for him and a cake was ordered with ‘chor’ written on it. Amid chants of happy birthday ‘chor’ and bystanders caressing his head, ceremonial greetings were conveyed to him. The tools he used in the attempt to enter the flat were also displayed beside his cake.

After the thief finished his snacks and party got over, he was handed over to the police.
