The United States has a new political meme sensation. Vice President JD Vance has dominated social media, becoming the subject of numerous memes after his heated exchange with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House on February 28.

During a tense meeting in the Oval Office, Vance aggressively questioned Zelenskyy's request for more U.S. funding, challenged his credibility, and issued a blunt warning, suggesting that Ukraine could lose American support if it didn’t accept the proposed terms. The confrontation, which reportedly strained diplomatic ties between Washington and Kyiv, quickly sparked a frenzy online.

Social media users were quick to mock Vance, transforming him into an internet spectacle. Memes circulating on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) portrayed the vice president in exaggerated forms, such as an overweight monster, an ogre, and even a child holding a lollipop.

One moment that fueled the online storm was Vance persistently asking Zelenskyy, “Did you even say thank you?” Some memes featured heavily edited versions of Vance, with exaggerated features like plump lips, airbrushed skin, and groomed eyebrows.

During the tense exchange on February 28, Vance criticized Zelenskyy's request for more U.S. funding, deeming it inappropriate to "litigate this in front of the American media." Former President Trump also joined the debate, accusing Zelenskyy of "gambling with World War III" by refusing to compromise on Ukraine’s stance. As a result of the confrontation, Zelenskyy left Washington without securing any agreements, despite hopes of finalizing a minerals deal.

The criticism of Vance continued beyond social media. While on a family ski trip in Vermont, hundreds of pro-Ukraine protesters gathered, holding signs that read "International embarrassment" and "Vermont stands with Ukraine." The protest forced Vance and his family to move from their planned resort to a different, undisclosed location, according to reports.
