Climbing Everest's "death zone" above 8,000 metres poses significant risks due to low oxygen levels, which can cause brain damage, fluid buildup in the lungs and even death. Bargiel spent nearly 16 grueling hours navigating this treacherous terrain without bottled oxygen.

Bargiel's ski descent was a thrilling and perilous ride. He skied through the notorious Khumbu Icefall, a maze of ice towers and deep crevasses, with the help of his brother Bartek, who operated a drone to guide him through the treacherous terrain.

The descent was split into two stages, with Bargiel resting overnight at Camp II before continuing to Base Camp.

Bargiel's achievement marks a significant milestone in ski mountaineering, demonstrating what can be accomplished with dedication and expertise.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk praised Bargiel's feat, tweeting, "Sky is the limit? Not for Poles! Andrzej Bargiel has just skied down Mount Everest."

"Congrats! Incredible what you’ve done on skis at high altitude," a comment read.

Another user wrote, "unreal achievement."
