Pakistani man gets pressure cooker as gift from Indian friend, viral desi bromance in UK gets over 3 million views
When someone returns from a trip to their homeland, you typically expect gifts, maybe some local sweets, traditional clothes or quirky items you can show off.
But one Indian man in the UK took a hilariously practical route.
Instead of the usual gifts, he brought back a pressure cooker and a box of spices for his Pakistani friend and the internet is loving the ‘desi bromance’.
In a now-viral Instagram video, the Indian man walks into the kitchen, bag in hand announcing he’s brought back something from his recent trip to India.
His Pakistani friend, clearly excited, waits in anticipation, only to be completely stunned when a black two-litre pressure cooker emerges from the bag.
“India se tu cooker leke aaya mere liye?” he asks in disbelief (You brought a pressure cooker for me from India?).
Without missing a beat, the Indian friend explains his logic, they didn’t have a good pressure cooker at home, and this one was the perfect size. Still staring at the gift, the Pakistani man quips, “Maine socha koi acchi cheez leke aayega India ki” (I thought you'd bring something nice from India).
He adds with a laugh, “Saree toh tu laane se raha mere liye, toh koi acchi cheez laa, cooker?” (It’s not like you’d bring a saree for me — at least bring something decent?).
But the comedy doesn’t stop there. As the Pakistani friend jokingly pretends to bang his head on the cooker, the Indian man reveals part two of his "gift", a box of spices.
“There’s Jeera in this,” he says proudly.
To which his friend immediately bursts out laughing, correcting him, “Zeera hota hai, Zeera!” (It’s Zeera, not Jeera).
The video was posted with a caption that read: “My Indian friend brought me a pressure cooker and a bunch of masalay from India as a gift — I mean, what even is this bromance? Haha! Living in the UK, it’s a beautiful thing to witness how Pakistanis and Indians often come together as one. Despite the many differences back home — language, politics, borders — here, we feel like one community.”
