Rinku Singh who once faced John Cena; know his spiritual journey from WWE to Premanand Maharaj’s ashram in Vrindavan

Former WWE wrestler and professional baseball player Rinku Singh--in a video that has gone viral on social media--is seen performing humble acts of service at Premanand Maharaj’s ashram in Vrindavan, leaving viewers both surprised and inspired.
The clip captures Rinku, dressed in “sadhu” attire with a “tilak” on his forehead, sweeping the floors as part of his seva (selfless service).
It also traces his extraordinary journey from a talented javelin thrower in Uttar Pradesh to the global sports stage and now, a spiritual seeker.
Born on August 8, 1988, in Holpur village, Bhadohi district, Rinku Singh grew up in a large family of nine siblings.
His father worked as a driver and from an early age, Rinku displayed a passion for sports, winning medals in javelin at the junior national level.
Rinku’s professional career began when he threw a baseball at 87 mph, becoming the first Indian to play professional baseball. He spent several seasons in the US minor leagues, reaching the Single-A level. His story, along with fellow pitcher Dinesh Patel, inspired Disney’s 2014 film “Million Dollar Arm.”
In 2018, Rinku transitioned to WWE, performing under the ring name “Veer Mahaan.” Known for his distinctive desi look—dhoti-inspired outfit, tilak, and rudraksha mala—he faced big names like John Cena and The Great Khali, making a mark on the international wrestling stage.
The most touching part of the viral video is Rinku’s exchange with Premanand Maharaj, who tells him, “Agar tumko lagta hai ki tum ho gaye ho is sansaar ke layak toh ajao” (If you feel that you have become worthy of this world, then come). Rinku responds softly with folded hands, “Lagne laga hai” (I’m feeling it), reflecting his spiritual awakening.
From the baseball diamond to the wrestling ring, and now to the sacred streets of Vrindavan, Rinku Singh’s journey is a testament to transformation, humility, and the pursuit of inner fulfillment.
