‘Still very young’: Manu Bhaker’s father dismisses rumours as social media speculates her marriage with Neeraj Chopra

India’s star pistol shooter Manu Bhaker’s father, Ram Kishan, has dismissed the rumours surrounding ace javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra and her daughter.

Neeraj was spotted with Manu and her mother at an event on Monday following the conclusion of the Paris Olympics 2024.

The manner in which the trio were interacting at the event was captured on several videos circulating on social media. Netizens speculated a potential romance or even marriage for Neeraj and Manu.

However, Manu's father in an interview to Dainik Bhasakar said, “Manu is still very young. She is not even of marriageable age. Not even thinking about it right now.”

In the videos, the connection between Neeraj and Manu’s mother was evident, taking the Internet by storm. But Ram Kishan clarified the nature of their bond, and said, “Manu’s mother considers Neeraj like her son.”

Neeraj’s uncle added, “Just as Neeraj brought the medal, the entire country got to know about it. Similarly, when he marries, then everyone will know.”

Both Neeraj and Manu were two of India’s brightest athletes at the Paris Olympics. Neeraj won a silver medal in javelin, while Manu clinched two bronze medals in different shooting events.
