Trendy meets tricky: 'Banana AI Saree' trend raises cybersecurity red flags

A quirky new social media trend dubbed the 'Banana AI Saree' is taking Instagram by storm, transforming users' selfies into dramatic, nostalgic 90s Bollywood-style portraits.

However, the viral trend has sparked safety alarms from experts and law enforcement. IPS officer VC Sajjanar warns users to tread cautiously:

• Risk of Scams: Sharing personal info online can lead to scams; money can vanish with just one click!
• Fake Websites Trap: Don't upload photos/details to unofficial apps/websites mimicking Gemini.
• Data Retrieval Tough: Once data hits a fake site, retrieving it gets super tough.

“Be cautious with trending topics on the Internet! Falling into the trap of the ‘Nano Banana’ craze can be risky. If you share personal information online, scams are bound to happen. With just one click, the money in your bank accounts can end up in the hands of criminals,” Sajjanar warned in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
