In an apology posted on her Instagram account, Shiino said, “I am truly sorry for the huge trouble I have caused and for betraying those who supported me.”

The office of the Miss Japan organisers on Tuesday said Shiino’s renunciation of the title was accepted and the slot for the 2024 winner would remain empty.
