US woman 'dies' for 8 minutes, comes back to life, shares what she saw
A 33-year-old woman from Colorado has recently shared her near-death experience, claiming that death is an illusion.
According to reports by Daily Star on May 23, Brianna Lafferty, who lives with a rare neurological condition known as myoclonus dystonia, was declared clinically dead for eight minutes after her body suddenly shut down. What she experienced during those minutes, she says, reshaped her entire outlook.
“I was suddenly separated from my physical body,” Brianna recalled. “I did not see or remember my human self. I was completely still, yet I felt fully alive, aware and more myself than ever before.”
She described hearing a voice ask if she was ready, followed by a plunge into darkness. Her consciousness, she says, then “floated” into a timeless realm, where she felt peace, clarity and love – a contrast to her physical suffering.
“There was no pain, just a deep sense of peace and understanding. I met other beings – not quite human, but somehow familiar. Time did not exist, yet everything made perfect sense,” she said. “It made me realise how temporary and fragile our human experience is.”
According to Brianna, the afterlife was a place where thoughts instantly manifested, a space where negativity could be transformed into positivity. “I experienced the beginning of everything and learned that our universe is made up of numbers,” she added.
The experience shifted her perspective on fear, suffering and purpose. “What I feared no longer had power over me and what I used to chase did not seem important anymore. I came back with a sense of mission and deep reverence for both life and death.”
After coming back to life, Brianna faced physical challenges, including relearning how to walk and talk. She also underwent experimental brain surgery to treat damage to her pituitary gland – a procedure that has shown promising results.
Despite the health concerns, she says she no longer sees her struggles as setbacks but as essential parts of her journey. “Everything is so crystal clear as to why I suffered with illness and other tough struggles. There is knowledge that everything does really happen for a reason.”
Brianna concludes by saying that she is a bit fearful of another near-death experience, mainly due to the difficult recovery.
