As rains wreaked havoc in Himachal Pradesh after cloudbursts hit Mandi, Kullu and Shimla district, BJP MP took to X urging people “to pray for the state”.

She wrote: “As the devastating floods, clouds bursts, and landslides capture Mandi and various parts of Himachal, many have died and many more are missing. I spoke to the MLA’s and DC’s of flood affected areas they advised me not to travel to Himachal right now because of red and orange alert in various places. I suggest the same to everyone in and around Himachal Pradesh please stay at home and please stay safe till the situation gets better. Pray for Himachal Pardesh.”

Soon Kangana was flooded with replies asking her “if Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi can visit Wayanad, irrespective of the advisory and risking their lives to help the ones affected, why couldn’t she”.

The state emergency operation centre said the cloudburst took place in Nirmand, Sainj and Malana areas in Kullu, Padhar in Mandi and Rampur in Shimla districts.

A cloudburst at Samej Khud (nallah) in Rampur subdivision of Shimla district left two people dead and 28 others missing.

A breach was also reported in Malana Dam but the situation is under control.

Some people are stuck in the Malana I hydropower project. They are in underground buildings and safe and NDRF and Home Guard teams are making efforts to rescue them. Manali-Chandigarh National Highway has been breached at numerous places due to landslides and gushing waters of River Beas.

All educational institutions and schools in Kullu district have been closed for two days.
