Why a police officer’s gentle traffic warning on sunroof is for all to adhere to
A traffic police officer’s composed and measured handling of a reckless driving situation has drawn widespread appreciation on social media.
In a now-viral 50-second video, two children are seen standing up through the sunroof of a moving car— a highly dangerous practice. The vehicle is soon pulled over by the officer, who engages with the adult behind the wheel. The driver appears to brush off the concern at first, smiling and laughing. However, the officer maintains his calm and responds, “I will explain to you,” before delivering a serious warning.
He explains that children who lean out of a sunroof are exposed from the waist up and, in the event of sudden braking or a crash, they could be flung from the vehicle, putting their lives at severe risk.
The officer’s calm tone has resonated with viewers, many of whom praised his professionalism and restraint in a situation that could have escalated.
The video, which has circulated widely across social media platforms, appears to show a vehicle registered in Madhya Pradesh. However, the exact location and date of the incident remain unclear. It was first shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Jitendra Verma, a national spokesperson for the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh. The post has since amassed over 480,000 views.

While the officer’s composed handling of the situation was widely applauded, some commenters noted that such courteous interactions with law enforcement aren’t always common, especially in India.
