All limits of barbarism crossed: Congress on differently-abled minor’s rape in UP
The Congress on Thursday targeted BJP over the alleged rape of a differently-abled girl from Dalit community in Uttar Pradesh, saying "all limits of barbarism and atrocities against women have been crossed in the BJP rule."
An 11-year-old differently-abled (speech and hearing impaired) Dalit girl was allegedly raped at a village in Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh. The girl, who was said to be missing since Tuesday evening, was reportedly found lying unconscious, naked and bleeding in a field in the morning.
Expressing anguish over the incident, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi said, "In Rampur, all limits of barbarism were crossed with a girl from the Dalit community, who can neither speak nor hear. Her entire body was mutilated. Such heinous crimes shame humanity."
She added, "Similarly, eight people were arrested for gangraping a minor girl in UP's Kasganj. According to reports, a BJP leader is also among them."
In her attack on BJP, the party which in power in the state, Priyanka said, "All limits of barbarism and atrocities against women have been crossed in the BJP rule. When will this series end?"
