Addressing a gathering after unveiling development projects worth Rs 2,200 crore in his Lok Sabha segment of Varanasi, also the seat of Kashi Vishwanath temple, Modi said India's enemies would not survive even under the earth.
Hailing the success of Operation Sindoor, which he dedicated to Lord Shiva, Mahadev, the PM attacked the Congress for terming the military mission a "tamasha”. The PM's reference was to Congress MP Parineeti Shinde's remarks in Lok Sabha.
"Can anyone call Sindoor a tamasha?" Modi asked, attacking the Congress and opposition Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh.
He said the opposition leaders' stomachs were aching due to the success of Op Sindoor.
"Congress, its minions and friends are unable to digest that India destroyed Pakistan's terror hubs.
I want to ask my masters in Kashi — are you not proud of India's strength, of Op Sindoor, of the fact that our forces destroyed terror hubs in Pakistan?" Modi asked the gathering which answered with an applause.
He said made-in-India weapons had demonstrated their power to the world during Operation Sindoor, India's military response to Pakistan-sponsored April 22 Pahalgam terror attack which killed 26 civilians.
"Many air bases of Pakistan are still lying in ICU. Pakistan is sad and one can understand why. But, the Congress and the SP cannot tolerate Pakistan's sadness. The patrons of terrorists are crying in Pakistan and here in India, the Congress and the SP are crying, looking at the state of these terrorists. The Congress is constantly insulting the bravery of our forces and called Op Sindoor a tamasha," said Modi.
Attacking the Congress for "shamelessness", he said the SP was also not far behind in appeasement politics.
"The SP asked why the terrorists were killed now. Should I have called them up and asked whether we should kill them or not? Should we have waited and allowed them to escape?" the PM asked.
Speaking of the two forms of Lord Shiva — benign and ferocious, the PM said: "During Operation Sindoor, the world saw the rudra form of India... New India is Kaal Bhairav for enemies," said the PM, connecting with the people in the land of Lord Shiva.
