Video: Saudi flight with Haj pilgrims faces snag at Lucknow airport; smoke from wheel prompts emergency response

A mishap was averted after a Saudia Airlines flight from Jeddah sparked a brief scare at Lucknow's Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport on Saturday morning as smoke was seen coming from the aircraft's wheels shortly after landing.

The Saudia Airlines flight, carrying Hajj pilgrims, developed a technical snag during landing, and smoke was seen erupting from the aircraft’s wheel as it touched down on the runway.

Smoke and sparks were seen coming from the aircraft’s wheel as it touched down around 6:30 am, reports say.

The aircraft had departed from Jeddah at 10:45 pm the previous night with 250 Hajj pilgrims and crew members on board.

A Fire Fighting (ARFF) team and ground staff responded swiftly to the situation.

Airport authorities confirmed that all passengers were safely disembarked without incident and there was no disruption to regular flight operations, according to reports.

A probe has been ordered.

The incident comes days after the London-bound aircraft crashed into the campus of a medical college in Meghaninagar, moments after taking off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at on June 12, killing 241 out of the 242 persons on board and 29 on the ground.
