Jalandhar, August 20

In an initiative aimed at empowering the children of Punjab Police personnel, the police under the guidance of Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the IAS Study Group, Chandigarh.

The agreement was formalised by MF Farooqui, ADGP, PAP, and Raj Malhotra, Director of the IAS Study Group, during a ceremony held on the PAP campus in Jalandhar today.

ADGP Farooqui said the collaboration aimed to provide high-quality IAS, PCS and allied services coaching to the wards of police personnel at the significantly reduced rates. He further stated that the coaching centre, to be inaugurated on the PAP campus, would offer a total course fee of Rs 1,40,000. However, for police personnel’s children, there would be substantial discounts — a 50 per cent reduction for families of officers up to the rank of Inspector, bringing the fee down to Rs 70,000, and a 40 per cent discount for the wards of DSP and higher-ranking officers.

Families of police martyrs will receive 100 per cent fee waivers, allowing their children to access the coaching free of cost, he said, adding that this initiative reflected the department’s commitment to honouring the sacrifices made by these families.

Additionally, the fee could be paid in three instalments over six months, with no further payment required if the candidate did not secure a selection.

Moreover, the MoU includes a 50 per cent scholarship provision for the deserving candidates who face financial difficulties, facilitated by the NGO ‘Joy of Guidance’. This ensures that meritorious students from economically challenged background can also benefit from this coaching.

The ADGP also said persons other than police officials could also avail of the services at a 10 per cent discount. The coaching classes will be held six days a week from 3-5pm at the centre.
