Workshop on robotics



Jalandhar: The department of electronics and communication engineering of Mehr Chand Polytechnic College organised a workshop on robotics, drones, IOT and 3D printers. Sanjiv Nanda, resource person, told students that robotics and automation were the present and future technological applications. He advised the students to develop their technical skills and become practical oriented in order to meet the requirement of today’s modern industries. He also expressed that how automation through embedded system like Raspberry Pi which was itself a complete system popularly known as “credit card computer”, having inbuilt softwares like Python and Mathematica, which leads to increasing the facilities at home, office and corporate sectors. Through practical demonstration, they made a 3D Cube using eco-friendly corn starch based material with 3D Printing technology which was highly impressive.

Punjabi Sahit Utsav

Jalandhar: A two-day International Punjabi Sahit Utsav will be organised by the PG department of Punjabi of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya in collaboration with the Punjab Sahit Akademi from Wednesday. Dr Surjit Patar, chairman, Punjab Kala Parishad, would inaugurate the utsav. Charanjit Singh Channi, Minister of Cultural Affairs, would be the chief guest. On the first day, Dr Harchand Singh Bedi, GNDU, Amritsar, would chair the session. Dr Dariya, Balbir Parwana, Dr Parveen Kumar, Dr Kuldeep Singh would be the panelists. A parallel session would be chaired by novelist Manmohan Bawa. The chief guest for the second session would be Davender Raj Ankur, National School of Drama, Delhi, and the session was going to be chaired by Kewal Dhaliwal, president, Sangeet Natak Akademi. Dr Satnam Singh Sandhu, Dean, Punjabi University, Patiala would chair the parallel session. The session would be followed by Kavi Darbar.

Save Girl Child Day

Jalandhar: Save Girl Child Day was observed at Eklavya School to spread awareness about saving the ‘girl child’ for bright future. Jasleen of Class VII delivererd a speech, in which she explained how girls were superior to boys. The students of Class V made charts on the topic of ‘Save girl child’. A skit on the priority of girls for our bright future was presented by middle school students. Director Seema Handa said there could be no human existence without woman.

Talk on Entrepreneurship

Jalandhar: An expert talk on entrepreneurship was organised by the department of computer science and engineering at the Lyallpur Khalsa College of Engineering. The resource person for the event was Dr Jasmer Singh Saini, former professor and head of Entrepreneurship Development and Industrial Coordination Department
