11 army personnel killed, 78 injured in conflict, claims Pak

Pakistan on Tuesday said 11 of its military personnel, including a squadron leader, were killed and 78 injured during the recent confrontation with India.

In a statement, the Pakistan military further claimed that 40 civilians died and 121 sustained injuries in the “unprovoked and reprehensible dastardly attacks” by India on the night of May 6-7.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif saluted “the brave sons” of the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force who were killed in confrontation.

“Our brave forces have successfully defended the nation, and the country’s integrity,” Zardari said in a statement.

Sharif said valiant officers and soldiers of the armed forces fulfilled their promise made with the nation to protect the motherland.
