Reaffirming its continued support for the people of Afghanistan, India on Monday dispatched relief material and tonnes of essential medicines to the quake-hit northern provinces of Balkh, Samangan and Baghlan as External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar spoke to Afghanistan's Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi to convey condolences over the loss of lives.
"Called FM Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi of Afghanistan this afternoon to convey condolences at the loss of lives in the earthquake that struck Balkh, Samangan and Baghlan provinces. Indian relief material for the earthquake-impacted communities is being handed over today. Further supplies of medicines to reach soon," Jaishankar said in a post on X.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India had delivered food and relief items and assured that medicines were being readied for delivery.
