London, October 18

One of the UK’s senior-most medical chiefs has indicated that a Covid vaccine could be ready to be deployed by the beginning of the New Year, according to a media report on Sunday.

Jonathan Van-Tam, England’s Deputy Chief Medical Officer, has reportedly told the Members of Parliament that the vaccine created at Oxford University and being manufactured by AstraZeneca could be ready for rollout soon after Christmas.

In China, health officials said they had found Covid virus on the outer packaging of imported frozen marine fish in Qingdao.

In Australia, Melbourne has loosened lockdown restrictions as Covid cases are declining. — Agencies
