Care homes for senior citizens have been hit the hardest by the coronavirus pandemic. With all the care homes cancelling visiting rights for outsiders, many grandmothers and grandfathers have not been able to meet their family members in months.
Many videos are popping up of people inventing model ways to hug the senior, more vulnerable, members of their family.

After many stories about ‘hug curtains’, a video has come out showing a woman wearing a sanitised hippo suit to safely hug her mother, a resident at Fox Trails Assisted Living in Stephens City, Virginia. The inflatable hippo costume was completed with a pink tutu.
The video shows the elder woman exclaiming, “this is wonderful!” when she comes out of the facility to find the suprise.
The video’s narrator says, “My mother-in-law hugging my grandmother in an inflatable hippo suit wearing a tutu is the content you needed today. Her nursing home is letting family members hug each other in these sterilised suits.”
