Ex-priest jailed for sexual abuse bid on 11-year-old

A former Catholic priest in South Carolina has been sentenced to nearly 22 years in prison for trying to sexually assault a boy and showing him pornography. Convict Gonzalez-Farias pleaded guilty to transporting a minor intending to engage in criminal sexual activity. His lawyer asked for a 10-year sentence because his guilty plea kept the boy and his family from having to testify and relive what happened.

The ex-priest wrote a letter to the boy’s family expressing remorse. — AP

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
