US President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to European nations about immigration, claiming it is "killing" the continent and urging governments to tighten border controls.

Speaking to reporters after arriving in Scotland during his visit to Europe, Trump said, “You’re not going to have Europe anymore. You better get your act together.”

He referred to rising migration as a “horrible invasion” and criticised some European leaders for not doing enough to stop it.

Trump, whose mother was born in Scotland and father immigrated from Germany, is scheduled to meet with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during his trip.

Without naming specific countries, Trump praised certain European leaders for resisting immigration policies but said they were not getting the recognition they deserve.

The US President also highlighted his administration’s immigration record, claiming, “Last month, we had nobody entering our country. We took out a lot of bad people that got there.”

Since returning to the White House in January, Trump has reinstated strict immigration policies and launched what he says will be the largest deportation effort in US history. The policies have sparked widespread protests across the US, which remains home to the world’s largest immigrant population.

According to United Nations estimates from 2020, Europe hosts approximately 87 million international migrants.
