Mexico: Mexican town San Pedro Huamelula mayor Victor Hugo Sosa married his alligator bride at a colorful ceremony as traditional music rang out and revellers danced. The ritual marriage likely dates back to pre-Hispanic times among Oaxaca state’s Chontal and Huave communities. “It’s like a prayer pleading for nature’s bounty for enough rain, food and fish in the river,” said Sosa, mayor of the small fishing village. Turkey blocks Deutsche Welle, Voice of America

Istanbul: Turkey’s media watchdog has banned access to the Turkish services of US public service broadcaster Voice of America and German broadcaster Deutsche Welle, prompting criticism of censorship. The Supreme Board of Radio and Television enforced a February decision requiring international media that air television content in Turkish online to apply for a broadcast licence.
