Iran, Europe leaders may hold N-talks

Dubai: Iran, Britain, France and Germany could hold talks next week on Tehran’s nuclear programme, Iran’s semi-official news agency reported on Sunday, following warnings by the three European countries that failure to resume negotiations would lead to international sanctions being reimposed on Iran.

Indonesian ferry catches fire, 5 dead

Manado: A passenger ferry carrying hundreds of people caught fire at sea on Sunday off Sulawesi island in Indonesia, killing at least five people, officials said. More than 280 people were rescued and evacuation efforts were ongoing. The vessel was headed to Manado, the capital of North Sulawesi province, from Talaud.

Pakistan monsoon toll crosses 200

Islamabad: The death toll in Pakistan due to monsoon rains crossed 200 on Sunday as another 10 people have been killed, according to the country’s chief disaster control body. It said another 10 people were killed and 18 injured on Saturday, taking the cumulative death toll to 203 and that of injured to 562.

17 dead, 11 missing in S Korea deluge

Seoul: Torrential rains that slammed South Korea for five days have left 17 people dead and 11 others missing, the government said on Sunday. One person was killed on Sunday after their house collapsed during heavy rain and another person was found dead after being swept away by a swollen stream in Gapyeong, a town northeast of Seoul.
