India is providing all assistance to its citizen who has been arrested in Qatar for allegedly data theft, official sources said on Saturday.

Amit Gupta, who worked as country head at Tech Mahindra in Doha has been wrongfully detained for three months by Qatar’s State Security, his family has said.

“Our Embassy in Qatar is aware of the detention of Amit Gupta, an Indian national, by Qatari Authorities in relation to an ongoing investigation. Mission has been in touch with the family, the lawyer representing Gupta and Qatari Authorities on a regular basis. Our Embassy continues to provide all possible assistance in the matter and is closely following the case,” a source informed.

Gupta hails from Vadodara. His family has been insisting that Gupta is innocent and has been falsely accused of data theft, while demanding his urgent release. His family has also sought PM’s intervention.
