Dubai: A court in Iran has slapped imprisoned Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi with an additional sentence of 15 months for allegedly spreading propaganda against the Islamic Republic, her family on Monday stated on Instagram, a social media platform. It said Mohammadi had refused to attend the court sessions. After her jail term, she won’t be allowed to travel abroad for two years. She won’t join any group and won’t have phone for two years. AP

Indian-American kid on brightest students’ list

Washington: Preesha Chakraborty, a nine-year-old Indian-American schoolgirl, was placed on the world’s brightest students list by the Johns Hopkins Centre for Talented Youth, based on the results of above-grade-level tests of over 16,000 students across 90 countries. Preesha of California took the test in summers last year. She was honoured for her exceptional performance in scholastic assessment test and other categories. pti
