After the announcement, several reactions from all over the world started pouring in, especially on social media.

Here’s how the Twitter reacted.

Twitter user Sharri Markson wrote, ”They were meant to be the popular face of the next generation of royals. But, in effect, Meghan is destroying the royal family over scrutiny from the press.”

Farzana Baduel appreciated the move and tweeted a gif with the caption, ”Disney should make a new story of a princess who fell in love with her prince, battled evil social media trolls, forged her own path and lived happily ever after”

However, some were inquisitive about their salary. Another user Midori Magma wrote, ”I doubt we’ll see Harry working in McDonald’s. He’ll still trade on his title no doubt.”

Louise Tinniswood wrote on facebook, ”Does this also mean stepping back from the royal salary?”

A marketing researcher in Sydney, Janani Venkat, said, “I think it’s good what they’ve done. Personally, I don’t care much for royals and royal family and all the controversy that kind of surrounds the royal family but it’ll be interesting to see how and what they do after they’ve actually done this.”

Another Sydney resident Peter Wotton said, “They’re a very privileged couple who, like many other royal families, don’t appear to take their responsibility seriously, but they have a prime minister who doesn’t take his responsibility seriously either.”

“It’s not like Harry’s going to be next in line to be king of England, so they need something to do and I think this sounds like them taking charge of that, think it will be better for the community,” another resident Rachel Morton said.
