Journo resigns without cross-checking lottery win, apologises

madrid: A Spanish TV reporter resigned live on air after thinking, wrongly, that she had hit a lottery jackpot. Natalia Escudero, a staff of RTVE, thought she had bagged a fat sum of money in Spain’s el Gordo Christmas lottery but it turned out to be a small win only. She wildly celebrated her lottery win but was left red-faced. She later apologised. IANS

No more US sniffer dogs to Egypt, Jordan after deaths

washington: The US has temporarily stopped sending bomb detecting sniffer dogs to Jordan and Egypt after several of the animals died due to what US officials say was lack of care. “Any death of a canine in the field is an extremely sad event and we will take every measure possible to prevent this from happening in the future,” an official said.
