He will travel to the US this week to attend the retirement ceremony of US Central Command chief General Michael Kurilla, who publicly praised Pakistan in the past few months. No official announcement has been made so far regarding any other engagements during Munir’s trip.

Earlier, he had visited Washington in June, and Trump hosted him for lunch at the White House. In fact, during his previous visit, Munir had hinted that he expected to return to the US later in the year, according to a report in the Pakistani newspaper Dawn.

His trip plan also follows a trip to Pakistan by General Michael Erik Kurilla, head of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), in July. During this visit, the Pakistani government also conferred the US General with the Nishan-i-Imtiaz (military).

Earlier on August 2, the US Central Command put out a statement on Gen Kurilla visit to Pakistan. In Islamabad, US Central Commanded co-hosted the Central and South Asia (CASA) Chiefs of Defence Conference, which included Chiefs of Defence and leaders from Pakistan, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the US.
